Tsertsel: Protasevich worked in several states in a combat situation
The head of the KGB revealed what benefit Roman Protasevich brought as an intelligence officer, according to ONT
«I confirm: yes, Protasevich is an employee of our foreign intelligence. This person worked in several states in a combat situation. He performed important tasks. Of course, I cannot talk about them. Perhaps, until the end (as it happens in our profession), this will not be revealed. But his contribution was quite significant in a number of aspects,» said the KGB chairman.
Nevertheless, Ivan Tsertsel shared some details. For example, when in 2020 security forces gathered daily and discussed what to expect from another coup attempt, at such meetings, the head of the KGB reported on the enemy's plans:
«Including — who will go where, who to send, where they plan to do what and other aspects; who was engaged in this planning, who acted as intelligence officers here in various locations, planned these actions for clashes with police officers, for causing damage to certain economic objects.»
«A significant percentage of this information was data obtained by Protasevich. Therefore, our law enforcement agencies acted quite confidently during that period, knowing how the situation would develop. In addition, entirely thanks to his work, we knew the dynamics of the creation of these subversive centers: who was behind them, who financed them, who (for example, the former Prime Minister of Poland) came there, what money they promised, from which fund, how many positions were allocated for the Warsaw office, which certain 'cultural figures' are now trying to develop there fruitlessly. This is his [Roman Protasevich's] work,» said Ivan Tsertsel.
