A man accused of attempting to kidnap children in Borovlyany was found innocent.
The other day, a resident of Borovlyany posted a video on Threads in which she claimed to have witnessed an «attempt to kidnap children.» She said that in the evening she noticed a man who drove up to the playground and headed towards her two daughters. The woman thought he wanted to take the children, shouted at him and warned him that she would film a video and post it on the Internet. She claimed to have filed a police report. Now this story has a sequel.
The police reported that they found the man who was in the video and conducted an investigation. It turned out that there was no kidnapping attempt at all.
The man, a resident of the same Borovlyany, came to pick up his daughter, who was playing in the yard with a friend. It was already dark, around 5:30 PM. He called his daughter, and she replied that she was playing near the house. When he arrived, the man saw children on the swings and thought it was his daughter, as the children looked alike from a distance. He called out to the children, but didn't hear a response. He got a little closer and realized he was mistaken. So he turned around and walked back.
At that moment, a woman sitting in a car near the playground started making claims to him about approaching the children. The man came over to explain that he was looking for his daughter and tried to speak calmly. The woman threatened to record him and post it online. The man said he didn't mind, as he had nothing to hide.
After a while, his daughter came out of the entrance (she was in her friend's apartment), and they drove home together.
After stating this version of events, the Ministry of Internal Affairs accused the woman of creating «hype content» and disseminating information that did not correspond to reality.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, such videos cause unjustified panic in society. The person who is really concerned about the safety of children would first contact the operational services, and not post videos on social networks to attract attention.
A repentant video was also recorded with the blogger herself, in which she explained the situation and apologized for the misinformation. According to the woman, they simply could not resolve the issue with the man on the spot, as he allegedly did not properly explain the situation to her.
