Olga Sitnik, one of the administrators of Belarusian Wikipedia, was convicted in mid-December 2025 under a political criminal article. Olga was sentenced to "home chemistry" and released from pre-trial detention.
Olga Sitnik was born in 1983 in Slutsk. She graduated from the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics of BNTU with a degree in "robotics". She lives in Minsk and is raising three minor children with her husband. On Wikipedia, since 2009, she has been writing about Belarusian traditional culture and nature, as well as on topics such as breastfeeding. More than two dozen of Sitnik's articles have been honored with "good" or "excellent" status. Since 2010, she has continuously served as an administrator of Belarusian Wikipedia.
Olga Sitnik was detained in a criminal case in May 2025. At that time, a crackdown on Belarusian Wikipedia editors began.
