The amount of child benefit for children under three years old will be different for all families
Just as Alexander Lukashenka demanded that the government find a formula for him to revive demographic processes, an answer arrived.
The childcare benefit for children under three years old will be linked to the real income of the recipient of this benefit. This proposal was discussed at a meeting between Lukashenka and the leadership of the Council of Ministers and was supported by Lukashenka. This was announced by Minister of Labor and Social Protection Andrei Labovich.
The Minister said that demographic trends have significantly changed in recent years. The age of those who marry for the first time in Belarus has become 4 years higher than 25 years ago.
Women give birth for the first time at the age of 27.5 years.
According to Labovich, to change this, specialists identified the most important aspects for families regarding childbearing, and this is the amount of childcare benefit for children under 3 years old.
Therefore, the government proposed to review the approaches to the amounts of child benefits. They are currently the same for everyone. The government, however, proposes to determine the amount of the benefit based on the "level of the recipient's real income."
"At the same time, the minimum guarantee that exists today will be preserved – the minimum threshold will not be lower than the current amount of the benefit. The maximum amount will be limited to the level of the average salary in the country," the minister said.
Other details of the new system have not yet been reported.
