Pavel met his future wife during leadership courses for training public activists called "DJs of Revival," organized by the "Malady Front." Volha was among the participants:
"Volha appeared in my life at the "DJs of Revival" courses. She was one of the winners at the time, I think, in 2008, of those very leadership courses. And at that moment, she deeply touched me with her natural Belarusianness. She is from a Catholic region, from Narach. And in Belarus, the maiden eyes of Narach… So delicate, yet strong at the same time. I saw all this at the DJ courses, and I was simply smitten at some point."
The age difference between Pavel and Volha is 14 years. According to Seviarynets, he hid his feelings for a long time. When he finally dared to open up, the confession from the well-known politician came as a shock to the young woman:
"Clearly, she was stunned. And she immediately said: 'Listen, well, you'll probably have to wait a few years,'"
— recalls Pavel, noting that he ended up waiting five years, as he was soon imprisoned.
"And so, five years later, when I was returning from my sentence in Kuplin (from 'chemistry' - NN), we immediately had a wedding, got married in church, and tied the knot. And I thank God for every day that my wife, my dear Volha, is with me. She is simply wonderful,"
— says Pavel, admitting that their marriage was the first and only experience of intimacy for both of them:
— "In fact, before my dear Volha, I had a couple of stories involving kisses, but it never went beyond kissing. Therefore, this story might be atypical for today's world, where I am Volha's first, and my Volha is also my first. I think that's wonderful."
According to the politician, he doesn't condemn those who have different life experiences, but he deeply values their unique story of fidelity.
