Minsk utility workers showed what they do with the snow brought by cyclone 'Uli'
In the Telegram channel of the Minsk City Housing and Utilities, it was reported that snow from the capital's streets is not transported out of the city or stored in vacant lots. It is disposed of at a special snow-melting point — the only one in Belarus, which has been operating in Minsk since 2016.

After cleaning the streets, snow is brought to the facility by dump trucks. There, it undergoes several processing stages.

First, snow is unloaded onto powerful crushers, where compacted and dense drifts are crushed into a fine mass. Then this mass enters a reservoir with warm wastewater, where the snow quickly melts.

The resulting water is additionally purified: special sand traps separate sand and debris that got into the snow from the roads. After this, the water flows by gravity to the treatment facilities.

Just in the past day, the snow-melting point received 824 cubic meters of snow — which is approximately 70 fully loaded dump trucks. Thus, snow from the city streets undergoes a full technological cycle — from crushing to purification — and does not accumulate within Minsk.
