Opinion: "Zhyttsyo-malina" must continue, Mikita didn't 'belarusify' and 'belarusified' for it to stop
I understand the team's grief, but Mikita Mielkaziorau's project must continue on his own channel, writes Mikola Buhai.

When Siarhei Dubavets revived "Nasha Niva" in 1991, poet Nil Hilevich strongly opposed it. "Nasha Niva" is a monument, and it must remain a monument, he said.
Time has shown that Dubavets was right, not Hilevich. Editors change, generations change, but the publication remains, doing the Belarusian cause. What good would it be if "NN" remained an exhibit on a shelf? Only a few would refer to it.
The "Zhyttsyo-malina" channel team announced that they would not look for another host for the channel. "Mikita, you created a monument to yourself. Let it remain in the form you left it to us."
That's wrong, guys. To stop "Zhyttsyo-malina" is to kill a living channel, it contradicts Mikita's very spirit, as we, his viewers, perceived him.
I don't know who can — and has the moral right — to replace Mikita at the helm of "Malina". Ivulin? Kavierin? Akudovich? Kirkevich? Someone completely new, whom we haven't seen? Yes, it will be unfamiliar to us, and it will be a different project (just as "Nasha Niva" was different in the 1990s, different in the 2000s, and even more different in the 2010s, 2020s). But it will be alive. I know for sure: Mikita 'belarusified and kept belarusifying' not for it to stop. A living "Malina" will be the best, living monument to Mikita. And I am sure that the "Malina" team is capable of finding a successor both tactfully and with maximum wisdom.
