Customs officers told what happened to the illegal raccoon that arrived in Belarus from the USA
The American raccoon that made an unusual journey across the ocean in a container with passenger cars and ended up in Belarus, has been named Senya. He is currently at a veterinary station in Oshmyany, and his "semi-somnolent state has changed to a very active one," according to the State Customs Committee.
While immediately after the journey Senya looked sluggish, now his condition has significantly improved. The raccoon has become so active that the enclosure at the vet station is too small for him: he gladly goes out to play.
It turned out that the guest has a gentle character and a picky taste. Senya has grown very fond of chicken eggs, crab sticks, and grapes.
His quarantine will last until February 3rd. During this time, the animal must be fully examined and undergo all necessary procedures.
Employees of the Grodno customs office are looking after the raccoon's fate, regularly visiting and feeding him. Immediately after the American's appearance in Belarus, some specialists suggested euthanizing the animal.
