Ex-head of Mogilev Investigative Department, for whom the KGB fabricated a fake "New Belarus" passport, sentenced
59-year-old Dmitry Shyshkov was sentenced under the criminal article "assistance to extremist activities".
The Mogilev Regional Court sentenced 59-year-old former investigator Dmitry Shyshkov. The former investigator was tried under Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code — "assistance to extremist activities". He was sentenced to either "chemistry" (restricted freedom) with assignment, or a penal colony. However, the term is unknown — theoretically, Shyshkov could have fully served it in a pre-trial detention center or received a suspended sentence.
Dmitry Shyshkov is a former investigator. In 2010, he was appointed head of the Investigative Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee. Later he was sent to work in the Investigative Committee.
His last place of work was the information agency "Mogilevskiye Vedomosti". However, no materials under his signature can be found. Perhaps Shyshkov was responsible for security at the agency. ONT (Belarusian TV channel) claimed that Shyshkov was fired from there for his political views in 2023.
In March 2024, ONT showed a "New Belarus" passport, made in Shyshkov's name. However, the document was clearly fake. The investigator's surname was spelled incorrectly in Belarusian, using the Russian letter "и".
