Musk has once again begun making large donations to Republicans and is rebuilding his relationship with US President Donald Trump. Since the beginning of the year, he has already allocated $10 million to support Republican Senate candidate Nate Morris from Kentucky. Musk's strategy is coordinated by his political strategist Chris Young: the team is negotiating with contractors for digital campaigns and agitation preparation, getting ready for a potentially extensive election campaign.
The final format of Musk's participation in the elections has not yet been determined. It could be in the form of funding through America PAC — a committee supporting Trump's 2024 election campaign — or through contributions to other committees or the election races of individual candidates. The main goal is to mobilize Trump supporters, who usually only vote actively in presidential elections.
In 2024, Musk spent almost $300 million supporting Trump and Republicans, becoming the most prominent political philanthropist in the US. However, since June 2025, his donations have only amounted to $42 million.
The reduction in aid to Republicans occurred after Musk's conflict with Trump last June. Musk criticized Trump's "big and beautiful spending and tax bill," calling it "disgusting abominable," and Trump, in response, threatened to cut government contracts and even deportation. After this, Musk considered creating his own political party, but abandoned the idea under the influence of Vice President J.D. Vance.
The first public interaction between Trump and Musk after that quarrel took place in September at the funeral of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Later, in November, Musk attended Trump's dinner during the visit of Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the US.
