In Kazakhstan, fans of Belgian "Bruges" came to the match dressed as the scandalous movie hero. They were detained
Three fans of the Belgian club "Bruges" were detained in Astana after attending a Champions League football match against Almaty's "Kairat" dressed in costumes from the British-American comedy "Borat". The incident occurred on January 20 at the "Astana Arena" stadium.

Reportedly, the men were intoxicated, and their behavior was classified as petty hooliganism.
Their case was heard by a specialized inter-district administrative court, which sentenced each of them to 5 days of arrest.
The match, by the way, ended with a confident victory for "Bruges" — 4:1.
The film "Borat", released in 2006, is a scandalous mockumentary comedy directed by Larry Charles, in which Sacha Baron Cohen plays the fictional Kazakh journalist Borat Sagdiyev. The plot is built around Borat's trip to the USA to create a report, which, however, soon turns into a search for Pamela Anderson. The main character, traveling across the USA, satirizes American stereotypes and culture.

Kazakhs predominantly have negative associations with this film. Many residents of Kazakhstan, after the film's release, perceived it as an insult to their people and a humiliation of their country.
