The accused were found guilty under Articles 38(a) and 44 of Myanmar's Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law. The verdict was delivered on October 1 by the Mingaladon Township Court in Yangon.
Reportedly, arrest warrants were also issued for three more Myanmar citizens and two Tajikistani citizens suspected of involvement in Krautsava's case.
Viera Krautsava flew from Bangkok to Yangon on September 20, 2025. On October 4, she stopped contacting her family in Belarus. According to media reports, the girl was forced to work in Myanmar in a scam center and participate in so-called "romance scams," where people are swindled out of money through fake relationships. The exact date of her death has not yet been established.
It was previously reported that unknown individuals sent messages to Krautsava's relatives demanding a ransom of $500,000. Later, the family was informed that the girl's body had been cremated, and her organs were allegedly sold.
In July 2025, Myanmar adopted a law to combat online fraud. For forced labor, torture, and participation in the activities of cyber fraud centers, it provides for penalties up to the death penalty or life imprisonment.
