Representatives of the USA, Ukraine, and European countries at the Miami talks discussed the possibility of creating a new security architecture between Russia and Europe that should ensure peaceful relations for many years. This was reported by Reuters, citing a source familiar with the meeting.
According to the agency's interlocutor, the participants in the negotiations also considered some ideas on territorial issues, but he did not disclose details.
The goal of the negotiations, the agency's source clarified, was to formulate a proposal for Russia that would allow for a breakthrough in a peaceful settlement before winter.
The meeting took place on October 9 and lasted six hours. It was attended by U.S. President's special envoy Steve Whitkoff, the American leader's son-in-law Jared Kushner, representatives of Ukraine, European countries, and NATO.
According to Reuters, the parties intend to agree on a single proposal for settling the conflict in Ukraine in the coming weeks, to then present it to Russia.
During the meeting, security guarantees for Ukraine from the US and Europe were also discussed, as well as the prospects for the country's accession to the European Union.
