«We all kept our fingers crossed». How a lonely pensioner from Brest found his daughter from the Far East through a DNA test
This story, similar to a movie script, which happened in real life to a resident of Brest, was told by the State Committee of Forensic Examinations for the Brest region. The entire team was rooting for the results of this case, writes BelTA.

The story began back in the days of the Soviet Union, said genetic expert Tatiana Kliza. A young man from Brest was assigned to the Far East after his studies. There he met a girl, and a relationship began. When his mandatory work term ended, the young man decided to return home, but the girl could not go with him — she was caring for her sick mother. The young people tried to keep in touch through letters, but over time, the correspondence stopped, and their paths diverged.
Many years later, the man, already a pensioner, accidentally met an old acquaintance from the Far East in Brest. In conversation, the acquaintance mentioned that the Brest resident's former beloved had given birth to a daughter a few months after his departure.
The man, who had never started a family or had children in his entire life, was filled with hope. The woman herself had already passed away, but her daughter was found through acquaintances.
When they called each other, the girl said that her mother had never married and had never talked about her father.
The man suggested that she come to Brest to undergo a genetic examination.
The girl traveled thousands of kilometers to meet a person she had never seen. GCSЕ employees recall that the entire team kept their fingers crossed for the heroes of this story.
The examination result confirmed: the resident of Brest is indeed the girl's biological father.
