The decision to open an embassy in Oman was signed by Prime Minister of Belarus Aliaksandr Turchyn.

According to the government press service, the establishment of a diplomatic mission will help activate political contacts, expand trade, economic, and investment cooperation, and better explore opportunities for industrial cooperation and joint entry into new markets.

The government also hopes that the permanent presence of Belarusian diplomats in Oman will strengthen Minsk's position in the region and create additional opportunities for cooperation with countries in Africa and Yemen.

Currently, Belarus's interests in Oman are represented concurrently by the Ambassador to Egypt, Yauhen Sabaleuski. On February 10, he presented his credentials to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.

In October 2025, the Sultan of Oman visited Minsk, and in December 2025, Aliaksandr Lukashenka visited Oman twice. Following these visits, it was announced that there was an intention to create a joint investment fund, build a new pulp and paper mill in Belarus, and organize a logistics hub and a Belarusian resort in Oman.
