"It was like an earthquake." Ukraine destroyed raw material production for explosives in Smolensk Oblast near Belarus
On the night of February 25, a successful strike was carried out on the "Dorogobuzh" chemical plant.

"The attack lasted several hours. Locals compared the blast wave to an earthquake. Roads in the city are blocked, classes are canceled," writes a Russian military correspondent who runs a channel called "Veteran's Notes."
The "Dorogobuzh" chemical plant in Smolensk Oblast is a dual-use facility. It produces nitrogen fertilizers, but at the same time, its ammonia and ammonium nitrate are raw materials for explosives.
According to photographs taken by eyewitnesses of the incident, a strong fire broke out on the territory of the chemical plant, which could be observed for several kilometers. Officially, the authorities of Smolensk Oblast did not report anything about the attack.
PJSC "Dorogobuzh" specializes in the production of nitrogen fertilizers and chemical products. The enterprise belongs to the "Acron" group. Ukrainian drones had already struck the plant in December 2025. Then, a strong fire also broke out at the facility, but there were no casualties.
Now, according to official information, 4 people died at the plant, including three rescuers, and a dozen were injured. This may indicate the detonation of ammonium nitrate as a result of the attack.
