A resident of Minsk doubted the quality of a chameleon cup received at one of the Mak.by chain restaurants. According to him, the accessory looked as if it had already been used.
The young man published his dissatisfaction on Threads, after which the situation attracted the attention of regulatory authorities, Minsk-news reported.
He placed a takeout order and purchased a cup along with his food. However, at home, he noticed dirty marks on the straw, likely from someone else's use.
In the comments under the post, representatives of the chain announced that they had contacted the author of the complaint to clarify the circumstances. Details of the conversation were not disclosed. Later, the company clarified: employees were additionally instructed on the rules for storing and issuing promotional products, as well as the need to carefully inspect such goods before handing them over to customers.

After the complaint appeared, the cafe was checked by specialists from the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Maskouski district. According to their information, chameleon cups are not sold as a separate item — they are promotional products and are given out free of charge as part of promotions.
As explained by the sanitary service, such cups are stored separately from food products, each packaged in an individual plastic bag. Lids and straws are in separate packages. Before dispensing, an employee removes the cup from the box, without removing the protective bag, and assembles it with a lid and straw while wearing disposable gloves. At the same time, the cups are not used for pouring drinks — visitors are given new products that have not been in use before.
The sanitary service added that the information from social networks will be taken into account when planning further supervisory measures regarding the establishment.
