Who is the foreigner who killed his wife and raped his stepdaughter in Dobrush
In October, a man there killed his pregnant wife, stabbed his minor stepson, and raped his stepdaughter near his wife's corpse. "Zerkalo" reports what is known about this family.

In its official statement, the prosecutor's office says that the man was not Belarusian, calling him a "foreigner." Social media users were interested in where he was from. One of the discussion participants shared that she was familiar with this story. According to her, it was a large family from Ukraine fleeing the war. "The whole town helped them, and it turned out like this..." she noted.
"Threatened physical violence" five years before the tragedy
"Zerkalo" checked this information and found the family. Their biographical data matched the information from the prosecutor's office, and visual details matched the photograph from the crime scene.
Volha and Anton (names changed) are from Donetsk Oblast. Volha indicated Soledar and Bakhmut as her hometowns on social media, Anton – Drobyshevo settlement, Soledar, and Bakhmut.
Volha had four children from a previous marriage – three sons and a daughter. In 2018, she filed for divorce from their father and for alimony. In May 2019, Volha married Anton; the marriage was registered in Soledar. Official databases contain records that Anton had previous convictions, including for robbery, and was wanted for some time.
The couple had two children. However, in the summer of 2020, their relationship deteriorated. In September, the man initiated a domestic quarrel, "using obscene language towards his wife and threatening her with physical violence," as stated in one of the court documents. Volha reported him to the police, the case went to court, and Anton was fined.
Concurrently, the woman appealed to the court to formalize alimony for their common children – and her request was supported. The court document states that the marital relations were effectively ceased due to "constant quarrels and differing views on family life."
"They were going absolutely nowhere"
But it seems the couple's story did not end there. After that, they jointly bought a house, and another child probably appeared in the family. In 2022-2023, Bakhmut was completely destroyed during battles during the Russian invasion of Ukraine and occupied. From January 2023, Soledar also came under occupation; the city was called "the hottest point of the war" at that time.
Volha and Anton decided to move to Belarus.
— To gather everyone and flee to a shelter is not so easy. We initially, yes, wanted to stay, but then – no, risking children is somehow too much. We were going absolutely nowhere, — Volha admitted in a report by the Belarusian state TV channel, which aired in the summer of 2023.
Initially, the large family stayed at a temporary accommodation center, then moved to Dobrush. In an interview, Volha said that she liked Belarus.
The report stated that the family was helped with finding work. What Anton did in Belarus is unknown. On one of the job search websites, Volha's resume, published in 2024, was preserved. She wrote that she had previously trained as a cook but was ready to "consider any options" in Minsk. The woman also indicated that she was unmarried and had Belarusian citizenship (it's hard to say if this was true).
"Found themselves in a difficult life situation"
In the summer of 2025, Volha and Anton's family received material assistance, which was collected with the participation of the Dobrush Commission for Minors, the Belarusian Red Cross Society, and concerned Belarusians. A local publication on this matter noted that "the most active were doctors, cultural workers, and educators." Judging by the photo, Volha was presented with a microwave oven.
The same publication stated that some of the families who received assistance came to the attention of the commission for minors "because they found themselves in a difficult life situation."

The tragedy happened three months later – in October 2025. A drunken Anton killed Volha, who was pregnant at the time. One of the sons tried to defend her – and received stab wounds. Fortunately, the boy managed to escape.
After that, the man, "displaying a knife, committed acts of a sexual nature against his stepdaughter near the corpse of his murdered wife, after which he raped her."
Anton was detained by OMON (riot police), and he is awaiting trial under a whole list of charges. The man was deprived of parental rights to his three children. All children were initially taken to the hospital, then sent to a territorial social-pedagogical center. They were later placed in a foster family.
