Specialists explained how dangerous bridges and overpasses are, whose defects are being shown online
Videos from Minsk regularly appear online, showing cracks and damage to bridges and overpasses. Specialists from the "Goravtomost" enterprise explained to the "Minsk-Novosti" agency that the situation with them is not critical, although some objects do indeed require repair.
First of all, it's about the overpass on Prytytskaha Street. Significant work has already been carried out there: supports were strengthened, the road surface was replaced, new waterproofing was installed, and expansion joints were updated. This is necessary to prevent water from entering the structures and destroying them from within. According to the specialists' conclusion, the overall condition of this object remains satisfactory, and its load capacity meets the norms.
The cracks noticed by people are mainly related to the technological features of the repair — for example, to the shrinkage of materials after strengthening the structures. Such defects do not affect the strength of the bridge. In some places where weakening was recorded, temporary safety structures were additionally installed to reduce the load and secure the supports.
As for the bridge on Dzyanisawskaya Street, its condition is indeed worse — it requires major repair. However, even there the situation is not critical: provided with control and compliance with recommendations, operation is allowed to continue until the start of the repair, planned for 2027. For safety, additional supports have been installed under the two outer beams. Such solutions are also used in other countries as a temporary measure.
Cracks, including corrosive ones, were also found on the overpass on Chyžeŭskіkh Street. However, specialists state that they do not affect traffic safety and will be eliminated during current repairs. In addition, they plan to seal the surface there to prevent water ingress and further damage.
It is separately noted that repair work is planned for 2026 on other objects as well, for example, on the overpass on Dziaržynskaha Avenue. There, they will restore the tightness of joints, drainage systems, and repair structural elements.
