A patient with an unusual foreign object in her esophagus — a fork — was admitted to the Vitebsk Regional Hospital. As reported by medics on their Telegram channel, the girl tried to cope with her ailment independently using a folk remedy.

It all started with abdominal pain and a feeling that her stomach had "stopped". To induce vomiting, she used a fork, but the object slipped and got stuck in her esophagus. She couldn't remove it herself, and the patient required urgent medical attention.
After examination, the girl was urgently taken to the operating room. Thanks to the professionalism of the doctors, serious consequences were avoided.
The foreign body did not cut into the walls of the esophagus, which greatly simplified the task. Under anesthesia, it was carefully moved into the stomach, and then removed during an open abdominal surgery.
The patient is currently conscious and has already been transferred to a regular ward. Her life and health are not in danger.
