In a village near Vitebsk there's a heartfelt museum: they serve delicious food, and bookings are a month in advance
A Belarusian woman on TikTok told about a rural museum you've probably never heard of. For 40 years, it has been maintained thanks to the enthusiasm of a Belarusian language and literature teacher.

There are only 24 kilometers between Vitebsk and the village of Zaronava. But not even everyone who has a dacha nearby knows about the existence of the museum there. And the place is truly heartfelt.
The exhibition might look a bit chaotic. But considering that for 40 years it has been sustained by the enthusiasm and love for Belarusian culture of an ordinary teacher, this can be forgiven.
The official name is: National Complex-Museum «History of the Zaronava Region». About 30 thousand exhibits are located on an area of 280 square meters.
The main person here is Liudmila Nikitsina. At one time, she tried to enter the history faculty of Grodno Pedagogical Institute three times — but unsuccessfully. As a result, she enrolled in the correspondence department of the Belarusian Philology Faculty of Vitebsk Pedagogical Institute.
Perhaps it's good that fate turned out this way: in an interview with «Vitsbichy», the woman said that she considers it her calling to study Belarusian culture and introduce it to others.
Liudmila moved to Zaronava in 1982 and worked as a Belarusian language and literature teacher. In 1986, she began creating a museum at the school. The motivation was quite clear: people came to Zaronava from all corners of the USSR for a military burial — one of the largest in the Vitebsk region.
They created the museum, as they say, with everyone's help: first, children brought everything that seemed interesting and significant to them to their beloved teacher for the exhibition. And then adults joined in.
Even today, when someone wants to demolish an old house, people invite Liudmila to visit so she can see if anything is worth taking for the museum.
A significant part of the exhibition is dedicated to the daily life of our ancestors; various folk rituals are held in the museum. And they can also serve delicious food there.
A blogger from Vitebsk, signed as Languanna, shared her impressions on TikTok. She was very impressed but warned that one needs to book far in advance: the TikToker, for example, arranged her visit last December but was only able to get on a tour almost a month later.
The exhibition even has a real stove — it was used to prepare lunch for the guests.
— The most important reason to visit this museum is Liudmila Kanstantsinauna, an incredibly energetic and positive woman who speaks about each exhibit with a sparkle in her eyes. She also has an entire team of children who helped her conduct the tour and talk about the museum. By the way, it's very pleasant that both the children and their leader spoke only in Belarusian.
In the comments, the TikToker's words are confirmed: those who visited the museum had only positive impressions.
