Sixth-grade student put on record for eating sunflower seeds. Father went to court
The student's father did not accept the decision of the juvenile commission and proved through court that a dirty floor is not a reason for a stigma on his son.
A Minsk resident contacted the editorial office of "Strong News" with an unusual story: he had to prove through court that his sixth-grade son is not a hooligan.
The man told how, because of ordinary sunflower seeds, the child was put on a police record, and how much it cost the state.
The story itself happened last year. A 13-year-old schoolboy went into the changing room after classes and decided to eat sunflower seeds.
According to the school's version, the boy was spitting the husks directly onto the floor and ignored the changing room attendant's remarks.
The administration of the educational institution did not limit itself to a disciplinary discussion and contacted the Commission for Juvenile Affairs. The child's actions were recognized as "petty hooliganism" (Art. 19.1 of the Administrative Offenses Code), and the teenager was put on official record.
The father did not agree with such a decision and went to court.
There, they came to the conclusion that sunflower seeds are a food product and can only be eaten in the school cafeteria. Not in the changing room. However, violating the school's internal regulations is a disciplinary offense, not "hooliganism".
The court recognized the decision to put on record as illegal and obliged the commission to cancel it. Furthermore, the district administration was obliged to pay the child's father court costs. The man's principled stand cost the budget 1832 rubles.
