Borscht with honey and coffee with perfume. An Old Believer cafe opened in Belarus
A cafe with an unusual concept has appeared 15 kilometers from Gomel in the city of Vetka. Vetka itself is historically considered the center of Old Belief in Belarus, which is why the new establishment prepares dishes according to special ancient recipes, writes Onliner.by.

For example, dry perfume is actively used in cooking — a special additive that gives dishes an additional bright aroma. The principle of creating culinary perfumes is similar to the work of a perfumer. They are added to both coffee and gingerbread.

By the way, local gingerbread is the true pride of the cafe. Here, the centuries-old tradition of its preparation is being revived. Specifically for this, a copy was made from Vetka gingerbread boards of 1907, which were preserved in one of the museums in St. Petersburg. The space itself already hosts master classes on making these gingerbreads according to an Old Believer recipe.

Another dish you can try here is Old Believer red borscht with fried honey.
In addition to coffee, the cafe also serves traditional Polesian herbal tea.
— This is a classic set: thyme, mint, oregano, rosehip, apples, and definitely wild rosemary. If someone asked me what the swamp smells like, and therefore Polesie, I would definitely choose it, — shares Petro.
In addition to working at the cafe, its owner is a certified tour guide who introduces interested tourists to this region. Petro plans to include all the main local rituals in the tourist routes: "Calling Spring, Burying the Arrow, Harvest, Apple Spas, and the Traditional Weaving Festival."
