Patriarch Kirill called the new supreme leader of Iran "dear brother"
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia congratulated Majtaba Khamenei, son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who died on February 28, on his election as the Supreme Leader of Iran, calling him "dear brother".

"Dear brother! I heartily congratulate you on your election by the Assembly of Experts of Iran to the post of Supreme Leader of the country!" - states the congratulatory message.
Kirill also stated that Iran and Russia are united by a common desire "to preserve traditional moral values."
