A Belarusian Woman Couldn't Read a Poem from a 2nd Grade Textbook. She Received Thousands of Comments
User Nadejda_kuksenkova published a video on TikTok in which she tries to read a poem from a second-grade literature textbook. She admits that she doesn't know the meaning of some words — which, in her opinion, means a child would be even less able to cope with it, writes "MogilevOnline".

Adding to the irony of the situation is the fact that the words on which the video author "stumbles" and misplaces accents are explained right above the poem itself.
«Good people, tell me: what is this? Second grade. They were told to learn a poem. What kind of words are these, forgive me,» says the indignant TikTok user.
It's better to just watch the video next — because the accents the woman places on Belarusian words will speak volumes about her knowledge of her native Belarusian language.
And here is the text of the poem:
Shining with a spring dawn,
Caressing,
Like the chime of a stream.
The very, very best in the world
Is my mom.
The woman admitted that she only understood two lines: «The very, very best in the world is my mom.» At the same time, the child allegedly found the task of memorizing the poem so difficult that, according to the Belarusian woman, they asked to stay home.
«This is some kind of trash. Of course, I understand everything, but couldn't poems be written more difficultly, or what?» — asks the author.
Interestingly, above Uladzimir Karyzna's poem, explanations are provided for those very words that were difficult for the Belarusian woman: «гай» (grove), «зараначка» (dawn), «лашчыць» (caress).
Currently, there are 2,758 comments under the video. Some even supported the woman off-screen, but for many followers, the post caused shame.
«Mom, go to school with your child, sit at the next desk.»
«How can you teach children if the parents are clueless?»
«Place the accent correctly and you'll see how beautiful it sounds. My grandson learned it easily and answered excellently yesterday.»
«Author, don't listen to the negative comments. I completely agree with you! Strange poems, unknown poets, difficult, 2nd grade. All the children in our class cried while learning it. Yes, Belarusian is our language, but there are good, melodious poems, who compiles these textbooks???? How can this be conveyed to the Ministry of Education???»
«A question for you: how did you finish school?»
«Yesterday I also learned this poem with my child; when I read it, I almost broke my tongue, and I also understood nothing. The child says this is their least favorite subject.»
«Dear parents, if you discuss the school curriculum, homework, and teachers in such a negative light, — don't be surprised later that your children don't want to study, do homework, and behave in school in a way that doesn't cause complaints about their behavior towards you, as parents.»
«Didn't hit a single accent. Talent!»
