On March 19, a verdict was delivered in Minsk in the high-profile case of "yard chats." Accountant Iryna Yakaulieva from Minsk, Anzhela Aharak, and Viktoryia Hrynko were accused under Article 357 of the Criminal Code "conspiracy or other actions committed with the aim of seizing state power."
Iryna and Anzhela were sentenced to eight and a half years in a penal colony each, and Viktoryia to nine years, also all were given a fine of 1000 basic units (45,000 rubles each), reports "Viasna".
Iryna Yakaulieva will turn 58 in just a few days. She was detained on October 31, 2024, in the case of the so-called yard chats. She was allegedly charged under Article 357 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus — "conspiracy or other actions committed with the aim of seizing state power."
On the same day, the "Yard Coalition 'Order'," which the authorities included a number of yard chats in, was added to the list of structures allegedly involved in "extremist activity." Among the individuals linked by the authorities to this "formation" was Iryna Yakaulieva.
It is known that Iryna Yakaulieva is an active Orthodox believer who engaged in church art and also donated to churches and monasteries in Belarus. She has already spent almost one and a half years in pre-trial detention.
