This year, future dentists and therapists will only be able to enroll in state-funded places. This means that after graduation, everyone will face mandatory work placement.

Today, the Belarusian State Medical University held an open day. The university announced how many applicants they will admit this year.
A total of 1330 people are planned to be admitted to the first year — 500 for the General Medicine faculty, 130 for the Medico-Prophylactic faculty, 340 for the Dentistry faculty, 230 for the Pediatric faculty, and 130 for the Pharmaceutical faculty. Of these, 782 are through targeted enrollment.
But what most surprised the parents of prospective students is that paid education has been virtually abolished. At the General Medicine, Medico-Prophylactic, Dentistry, and Pediatric faculties, there will only be state-funded places for those entering in 2026 (for those already studying, nothing changes). Only 30 places for fee-paying students are provided for the Pharmaceutical faculty.

The mandatory service period for future doctors after university now stands at 5 years.
This year, BSMU is also increasing its intake — last year they set the bar at 1154 applicants.
