The Chief Ideologist spoke about whether children and teenagers will be banned from using social networks in Belarus
Belarus is not yet planning to introduce age restrictions on the use of social networks for children and teenagers. This was announced by Vladimir Pertsov, First Deputy Head of Lukashenka's Administration, answering journalists' questions during a collegium of the Ministry of Information, writes BelTA.

According to the official, it's not about blocking social networks for teenagers aged 15-16, but generally about the possibility of age restrictions, which are already in force in some countries. He noted that social networks are increasingly influencing young people, who with age do not acquire the habit of reading printed publications and remain in the digital environment.
At the same time, Pertsov stressed that at the moment, no regulatory decisions on age restrictions are planned in Belarus.
He also noted that the country currently lacks effective mechanisms for verifying users' ages. It is difficult to accurately determine who exactly logs into a social network under a specific nickname.
It is also noted that attempts to influence young people through gaming platforms and social networks are already being observed. According to Vladimir Pertsov, some platforms may collect personal data, including requesting scans or photos of documents, to identify users and track their online activity.
Pertsov also noted that the digital space is rapidly changing: popular platforms are transforming, and the media landscape is changing. What steps should be taken in response to these processes remains an open question for regulators.
