The accident happened on Tuesday, March 3, around 9:30 AM on the A1 autobahn, on the section between the Stuhr and Brinkum interchanges. Due to extensive construction work on the Weserbrücke bridge, traffic here was slowed down.
At some point, the 62-year-old driver of one of the trucks was forced to brake sharply. The 33-year-old Belarusian in a semi-trailer truck, who was driving behind him, did not have time to react and, despite attempting to swerve left, crashed into the vehicle from behind.
Our compatriot received minor injuries. The man was given medical assistance on the spot and then taken by ambulance to the hospital, from where he was discharged the same day. However, the Belarusian's tractor and semi-trailer were completely wrecked. The same happened to the semi-trailer of the 62-year-old driver, which remained intact.
The total damage as a result amounted to approximately 120 thousand euros. To clear and clean the road, it was completely blocked in the direction of Hamburg.
As a result of the blockage, a traffic jam formed on the highway, in which another fatal accident later occurred at 2:50 PM.
