Arrested book publishers and distributors have been transferred to the pre-trial detention center of the State Security Committee.
Among them are Zmitser Kolas, Vaclaŭ Bahdanovič, Ales Yaŭdakha, as well as Viktoryia Bahdanovič, Vaclaŭ's daughter. She had been released, but was later re-detained.
Recall that on March 3, the "coalition of printed publishing houses "Kamunikat.org Foundation", "Lohvinau Publishing House", "Andrei Yanushkevich Publishing" was recognized as an "extremist formation". The corresponding decision was made by the State Security Committee.
This decision was a continuation of the mass detentions of publishers and book distributors in Minsk, which occurred in February. All detainees were initially sent for a period of administrative arrest based on administrative protocols, which, as is common now, were drawn up on fabricated grounds.
The list of people whom the authorities consider associated with this "coalition" includes names well-known in the book community: Zmitser Kolas, Vaclaŭ Bahdanovič, Ales Yaŭdakha (they are in Belarus), as well as Yaroslav Ivaniuk (a Belarusian from Podlachia, a Polish citizen), Ihar Lohvinau, and Andrei Yanushkevich (Belarusian citizens who left the country after 2021). The list also included the websites and social networks of the publishing houses.
All those who were attributed to the activities of the coalition and were in Belarus were arrested.
The people rounded up in this case are very diverse: one a brilliant translator, another a bookseller from the "White Legion", and the third a classic businessman.
