MAZ buses stopped being used in Russia's Yekaterinburg due to lack of spare parts
Yekaterinburg authorities reported that 33 buses, including those from the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), have been mothballed due to a lack of spare parts that were previously supplied from Germany. The total cost of the equipment is about 500 million Russian rubles (about 6.2 million dollars), writes Telegraf.news.

Problems arose after the introduction of Western sanctions: initially, spare parts were purchased through parallel imports, but later they became unavailable or economically unviable. Attempts by the local "Gortrans" to establish its own production of analogues were unsuccessful — parts failed after 1-2 months.
Previously, MAZ buses used components from Germany, including Mercedes engines. Now they have been replaced with Chinese-made engines.
Since 2022-2023, MAZ has switched to producing buses with a high degree of localization, using Belarusian and Russian parts instead of those affected by sanctions. Until then, German components were actively installed in MAZ passenger buses.
In May 2024, the plant announced the delivery of third-generation buses with import-substituting parts, such as MAZ-303047 models, to Russia.
