In the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Belarusians were congratulated on Freedom Day
«Freedom Day is a reminder that the aspiration for freedom is an integral part of Belarusian identity.»

In the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, during a plenary session, deputies congratulated Belarusians on Freedom Day.
«On March 25, Free Democratic Belarus celebrates Freedom Day — the 108th anniversary of the proclamation of independence of the Belarusian People's Republic, which became the first historical step of the Belarusian people towards their own state subjectivity. This moment did not last long, but it remained forever in history. Freedom Day is a reminder that the aspiration for freedom is an integral part of Belarusian identity,» the statement says.
Parliamentarians write that today Belarus lives under conditions of double occupation: Lukashenka's regime and by Russia, which has turned Belarus into a springboard for the destruction of Ukraine.
«In accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law, Belarus is an occupied territory. This is a legal fact, regulated by Articles 42 of the Hague Convention and 2 of the Geneva Convention. Ukraine is the first state that is obliged to make this conclusion official. By maintaining diplomatic relations with Minsk, we legitimize a regime that kills our citizens. It's time to put an end to this,» the statement says.
Deputies emphasize that there is another Belarus — and it is fighting.
«On this day, we bow our heads with special gratitude to the fighters of the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment, who, from the first days of the full-scale invasion, have been defending Ukrainian land on the hottest sections of the front. They defend the idea for which we are fighting: the fate of a nation cannot be imposed by force — it is determined by those who are ready to stand for it. Their courage on the battlefield proves what has always been declared: the freedom of Ukraine and the freedom of Belarus are inseparable. The true independence of Belarus will be gained, among other things, in this war,» the statement says.
Democratic change of power in Minsk is a matter of security for the entire region, parliamentarians write.
The inter-factional parliamentary association of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine «For Democratic Belarus!» calls for severing diplomatic relations with Lukashenka's regime; officially recognizing Belarus as a territory occupied by Russia; transferring the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Kyiv to the democratic representatives of the Belarusian people, and for the international community — to intensify sanctions pressure on the regime.
«We believe that soon the white-red-white national flag will fly again over free Minsk, and the border between our countries will become a border between two free European nations.
Long Live Belarus! Glory to Ukraine!» — the statement says.
