60 out of 101 deputies voted for the respective laws. Representatives of the Communist and Socialist parties opposed, stating that such a step could negatively affect the country's economy.
Now, the adopted documents must be signed by Moldovan President Maia Sandu. After that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will send the necessary papers to the CIS Executive Committee. The country's final withdrawal from the organization will take place one year after this.
Moldovan authorities first announced their intention to leave the CIS at the end of 2023. Earlier, Georgia and Ukraine had already withdrawn from this organization.
