Preliminary Estimated Cause of Death Named for Eduard Kaksharov, Coach of Brest "Meshkov"
The handball coach died at the age of 50 on Tuesday.
Honored Coach of the USSR Vladimir Maksimov announced the preliminary cause of death of former Russian handball player, head coach of the Belarusian handball club "Meshkov" Eduard Kaksharov, Pressball reports.
— No precise diagnosis has been named yet, but most likely, it was a stroke. As far as I know, he had a microstroke in January, but he didn't pay attention to it. The second incident ended like this, — Maksimov stated.
Earlier, Maksimov spoke about the circumstances of his death: "They were at a training camp; in the morning, he didn't come for breakfast. They opened the room — Edik was already gone. Obviously, a stroke or heart. To put it mildly, he left too soon."
Eduard Kaksharov was born in 1975 in Krasnodar, Russia.
As part of the Russian national team, Kaksharov won gold at the Olympic Games in Sydney (2000), bronze at the Athens Olympics (2004), gold (1997) and silver (1999) at the World Championships, as well as silver at the European Championship (2000). From 2017 to 2020, Kaksharov coached the Russian national team. He worked for the "Meshkov" club starting in 2023, became national champion, and won the SEHA League handball tournament. Yesterday, a farewell ceremony was held for him in Minsk. He will be buried in Krasnodar.
