From Palm Beach Airport, Trump usually flies to his Mar-a-Lago residence, which is eight kilometers from the airport.
Earlier, the proposal to rename the airport was supported by the state's House of Representatives and Senate. The final authority must be the Federal Aviation Administration, which has to make the corresponding changes to databases and navigation charts.
If this happens, the new name will be assigned to the airport starting July 1.
Democrats criticized the decision to change the airport's name, accusing Republicans of being "disconnected from reality" and not understanding the real problems of the state.
