The girl disappeared in 1974 after a Halloween party. A month later, her body was found in a canyon. For a long time, the case remained open, because although Bundy himself confessed to the murder before his execution, this was not enough for full legal certainty of his guilt.
Recent DNA studies provided clear confirmation that the found evidence belonged to him. After this, the authorities officially closed the investigation.
Ted Bundy is considered one of the most famous serial killers in the USA. In the 1970s, he committed at least 30 murders of women in various states, and possibly more. He often used cunning and charm to gain the trust of victims, after which he led them to remote locations where he killed them.

Bundy was arrested repeatedly, but he escaped custody twice. He was finally apprehended in 1978 and executed in Florida in 1989.
Thus, thanks to new technologies, American investigators were able, decades later, to finally establish the truth and close one of the old criminal cases.
