After the terrorist attack in Kyiv, the entire management vertical of the patrol police was removed
Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko announced personnel decisions: due to the disgraceful act of two patrol officers during the terrorist attack in the Holosiivskyi district, all commanders — from platoon leader to head of the capital's department — lost their positions. The police officers themselves, who abandoned civilians under fire, face up to 8 years in prison.
The scandal erupted after a video of the April 18 shooting went viral. The footage shows two patrol officers simply fleeing the scene, leaving civilians and even a child alone with the shooter.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs called the behavior of the patrol officers an act that called into question the stability of the country's entire law enforcement machine.
“As for the personnel decisions after the internal investigation, the entire vertical has now been removed from their positions… These may not be all the decisions yet,” Klymenko stated.
Yevhen Zhukov, the head of the Patrol Police Department of Ukraine, who resigned himself, has already found a new position: Zhukov will remain in the Ministry of Internal Affairs system as an advisor to the head of the National Police.
