MAZ long-term construction project in Minsk being transformed into an archive with advanced technologies
In Minsk, behind the "MOMA" shopping center, the construction of a new state archive complex continues. The unique aspect of the project is that a well-known urban long-term construction project, originally built for MAZ, is being repurposed into an archive, writes Office Life.

The complex consists of three blocks. Currently, facade, roofing, and internal works are underway at the site. Special climatic zones will be created in the building to ensure proper document storage. There will also be rooms for acclimatization, dust removal, and restoration of paper archives.
In addition to archive repositories, an exhibition and conference hall are planned to open on the first floor. The Center for Electronic Document Management and the Belarusian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Affairs will move into the new complex. The project is considered a base for the development of digital technologies in the archival sector.
During construction, workers managed to preserve an old apple orchard that grows directly on the site territory.
The history of this long-term construction project began back in 2008. At that time, construction of an administrative building for the Minsk Automobile Plant began at the intersection of Partizansky Prospekt and Mashinostroiteley Street. A few years later, due to lack of funding, work stopped, and in 2014, the object was mothballed. In 2023, the building was handed over to the city for further reconstruction.
