Pavel became the hero of a video by Minsk blogger Dmitry Zhykh (Belrels), known for his street interviews with random passers-by. He asks locals about how they live and what they dream about, often featuring people with disabilities in his surveys.
Pavel has cerebral palsy, but, according to the blogger, "you simply don't notice it due to the young man's drive and sincerity." "He is a philologist who is in love with the Belarusian language, and his world energizes everything around," Dmitry said.
Pavel shared that he loves reading books and watching football. He also dreams of working in his specialty – he is a philologist: "I am interested in science. I believe that the Belarusian language should develop more in Belarus. We have many outstanding people who have glorified our country to the whole world. Little attention is paid to this in the country, which is why I chose this path for myself. I believe it is my mission."
When the conversation turned to dreams, Pavel admitted that he had long wanted to buy Uladzimir Karatkievich's novel "The Ear of Your Sickle." But the book is expensive.
In the comments, everyone was delighted with the Belarusian-speaking young man. On Threads, the online store oz.by account was tagged – people wrote that they were ready to chip in money for a book by the classic of Belarusian literature. But the store representatives replied that they would gladly donate it themselves.
Also, representatives of the Marks store came into the comments – they added that they were giving Pavel a gift certificate to their bookstore with a value of 500 rubles.
By the way, the novel "The Ear of Your Sickle" was removed from the school curriculum a few years ago. This was facilitated by Vadim Gigin, the director of the National Library. He believed that Uladzimir Karatkievich's famous novel does not contribute to the formation of historical memory in schoolchildren that the authorities need.
