In Grodno, 17-year-old blogger Mikhail Dragun will be tried, accused of illegally using money collected for the treatment of 9-year-old Vanya Stetsenko, reports BelTA. This story gained significant resonance at the end of last year.

According to investigative materials, the 17-year-old offered the mother of the sick 9-year-old boy help in raising funds through his Instagram. However, when the money began to arrive, he decided to use it for his own purposes.
For the collection, he used several SIM cards and more than 20 bank accounts provided by his acquaintances and relatives. He also involved his 37-year-old blogger friend Evgenia Tarasenko in organizing the collection. Previously, they were detained together in this case, but now it is claimed that the woman was unaware of the young man's true intentions.
As a result, more than 2 million rubles were deposited into all accounts. However, instead of helping the child, the guy spent a significant portion of this money on personal needs: expensive housing, restaurants, entertainment, travel, and gifts to subscribers to develop his account. Only a small portion of the funds was transferred for the boy's treatment.
In addition, the investigation revealed another episode: the blogger allegedly published false information on social networks about an acquaintance, accusing her of stealing money. This was his revenge for her refusal to give him access to the funds.
Following the investigation, Mikhail Dragun was charged under two articles of the Criminal Code: Part 2 of Article 216 (causing property damage without signs of theft, committed by obtaining property benefits as a result of deception and abuse of trust, for a large sum) and Article 188 (slander). He has been taken into custody, and the case has already been referred to court.
Meanwhile, criminal prosecution against Evgenia Tarasenko was stopped, as her involvement in the crime was not confirmed.
The fundraising for Vanya Stetsenko was later closed with money from the arrested funds of the bloggers. Afterward, the boy underwent treatment in Dubai.
