In December 2023, a mother of several children learned about an instant online lottery from her son and decided to try her luck. The woman lost her own money, but didn't stop.
Working at a currency exchange office of one of the banks, she placed fragments of paper and cardboard into bundles of cash and stole the real banknotes.
From December 2023 to January 2026, the resident of Babruysk stole and lost more than 520 thousand rubles.
The woman was charged with embezzlement on a particularly large scale. An expert concluded that the accused has a mental disorder in the form of a pathological addiction to gambling.
In the court session, the woman fully admitted her guilt and repented. The court sentenced her to five years in a correctional colony under general regime conditions, a fine of 200 basic units (9 thousand rubles), and deprivation of the right to hold positions related to accounting, storage, and disposal of material assets, for a period of 5 years.
