In Russia, following Ukraine's example, a separate branch of service — the Unmanned Systems Troops — was created in November last year. General-Colonel Denis Lyamin has been entrusted with leading the new structure, Vladimir Putin announced today.

Denis Lyamin was born in 1979 in Slutsk into a military family (his father, Igor Lyamin, later became a Major General in the Russian Federation).
Soon after, his father was transferred to the city of Chebarkul in Russia's Chelyabinsk Oblast, where Lyamin finished school.
Later, he graduated from the Chelyabinsk Tank School, the Combined Arms Academy, and the General Staff Academy of the Russian Federation.
Lyamin commanded the 22nd Army Corps in Crimea and also served as acting commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army (after General Ivan Popov was removed from his post in 2023).
