"We are not finished yet. Don't lose hope!" John Coale reacted to Tsikhanouskaya's words about 800 political prisoners in Belarus

U.S. President's Special Envoy for Belarus, John Coale, stated that work to release Belarusian political prisoners will continue. He reacted to the words of the leader of the Belarusian democratic forces, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, on the social network X.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, answering a question from Denys Hlushko, editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian publication "Apostrophe", reported that about 800 political prisoners remain in Belarusian prisons today. She emphasized that the real number could be much higher, as many detentions remain undocumented due to relatives' fear of contacting human rights defenders.

Tsikhanouskaya expressed gratitude to the American side and personally to Coale for their efforts, noting that thanks to the negotiation process, about 500 people have already been released.

"We are not finished yet. Don't lose hope!" Coale wrote in response.
