Czechia Prepares for Possible War in Europe in Case of a Russian Attack
Czechia plans to prepare its army for "a long-term, high-intensity conflict with a technologically advanced adversary."
Czechia is preparing for a possible major military conflict in Europe and names Russia as the main threat to its security. This is stated in the Ministry of Defense's draft strategy "Long-Term Defense Perspective until 2045," which the newspaper iRozhlas reviewed. The document has already been approved by the State Security Council, and the government is expected to consider it in the autumn, writes Bild.
The strategy states that the probability of "complex security crises, including an unprovoked attack on NATO and EU states," is currently increasing. Prague also expects that responsibility for conventional defense in Europe will increasingly shift from the US to European allies.

By 2030, a new system for preparing the population for crises should be in place, by 2032 – its own additional space reconnaissance capabilities, and by 2038 – new armaments and equipment. The country is also purchasing 24 F-35 fighters and modernizing two brigades.
In peacetime, military service should remain voluntary; however, the document allows for broader involvement of citizens if necessary. According to journalists, this could involve, for example, people with technical, medical, or IT skills who can be quickly trained for defense needs.
