A fundraiser has been announced for the farewell to Sviatlana Kurs. They want to bury her in Belarus
A fundraiser has been launched on the Bysol platform at the request of the relatives of the writer Sviatlana Kurs, who passed away on July 19. The family wants to give a dignified farewell to a person who dedicated her entire life to the Belarusian language, literature, and journalism.
A public farewell ceremony is planned to be held in Warsaw. The exact location and time will be announced by the family separately. After that, Sviatlana's body, after completing all necessary documents, is planned to be transported to Belarus and buried in her homeland.
To make this possible, the family has already been forced to take out a loan. The fundraiser is being opened precisely to repay this loan.
Sviatlana was one of the brightest figures in modern Belarusian literature. She worked for many years in independent Belarusian journalism, and her books "The Path of a Petty Scoundrel" and especially "What Are You Going For, Wolf?", awarded the Jerzy Giedroyc Prize, became an important part of modern Belarusian culture.
