The meeting took place in Manila on the sidelines of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) summit.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met on the sidelines of ASEAN events in the Philippines. Photos and videos of the meeting were published on her Telegram channel by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
The day before, Lavrov announced a meeting with the American Secretary of State. According to him, he planned to discuss with Rubio, who had "commented quite ambiguously on the results of the meeting in Anchorage" last year, including the US position on resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
Today's meeting lasted about half an hour. During the meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Lavrov "conveyed to his American colleague information about the real state of affairs on the line of military contact," and also "emphasized the inadmissibility of further pumping" Ukraine with weapons and declared the "destabilizing policy of European countries." This is stated in the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
This was the fourth bilateral meeting between Lavrov and Rubio since 2025.
As noted in the statement, Lavrov "once again confirmed the readiness of the Russian side for a political-diplomatic settlement of the conflict" and "commitment" to the proposals that "were put forward by the American side" during the meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska last August.
"To which the Russian leader gave his consent," — it is emphasized in the press release.
In June, Rubio stated that during the summit in Alaska, "proposals were discussed, but no agreements were reached." According to him, if agreements had been reached in Anchorage, military actions in Ukraine would have already stopped, writes RBC.
