Putin briefed on restoration of control over "land corridor" to Crimea

Yevgeny Balitsky, the head of the Russian-appointed occupation administration of the Zaporizhzhia region, stated during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russian troops allegedly completely control the so-called "land corridor" to Crimea — a route connecting Rostov-on-Don with the annexed peninsula through occupied Ukrainian territories, writes The Moscow Times.

According to Yevgeny Balitsky, the effectiveness of Ukrainian drone strikes along this route has "significantly decreased" thanks to strengthened air defense and the use of new protective measures. He also noted that the route was taken under special control on Putin's instructions.

These statements raised doubts even among some Russian military bloggers. In the Z-channel "Two Majors," for example, Balitsky was ironically offered to personally drive along the entire route at the head of a column of fuel tankers to confirm the road's safety.

The Ukrainian side previously reported that in late May – early June, it took this logistical route under fire control using medium-range attack drones. According to Ukrainian reports, strikes were carried out on trucks, warehouses, fuel tankers, and other supply facilities along the route.

In early July, it was claimed that in the first week of the month, about 240 Russian trucks moving along this route, including fuel tankers, were attacked.
