11-year-old girl wanted to save her parents and hid their money behind garages
Scammers called a Minsk schoolgirl, introduced themselves as employees of an intercom service, and under the guise of replacing equipment, tricked her into giving them a code from an SMS message.
After that, a fake law enforcement officer contacted the girl, reports 'Minsk Police'.
He intimidated the child, stating that she had inadvertently contacted scammers. To increase the pressure, the interlocutor informed her that a search would allegedly be carried out at their home to ascertain whether her parents were involved in assisting criminals.
Frightened, the schoolgirl collected all the family savings (24 thousand rubles equivalent), put the money in a bag, and left it in a pre-arranged location behind the garage cooperative.
Detectives apprehended the courier who picked up the money. He was a 31-year-old resident of Minsk, who had previously also become a victim of fraudsters himself: he believed a story about replacing electricity meters, took out a loan for 65 thousand rubles, and transferred this money to the scammers.
After this, following the instructions of his 'curators', the man took the money from the deceived girl and handed them over to the next intermediary.
