Apple to Release First Water-Resistant iPad

What is known about it?

The new iPad mini, which is expected to be released by October, will be water-resistant for the first time, as expected.

Instead of traditional speakers with holes, Apple will use a vibrational sound system: sound travels through the flat panels of the case (the surface itself acts as a diaphragm). This eliminates one of the main ways water can get inside.

This iPad will feature an OLED screen. It will have a powerful new processor — either the A19 Pro or the yet-to-be-released A20 Pro.

The price for the tablet currently starts at $599. The model with an OLED screen might cost $50—100 more.

The iPad mini was last updated in October 2024 (it featured the A17 Pro chip and Apple Intelligence support). Water resistance will also close the gap with e-readers, which have long been usable in the bath or by the pool.
