The introduction of new sanctions by the European Union increasingly resembles the self-isolation of the EU, stated Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhenkov, answering journalists' questions, writes BelTA.
"This all looks very much like not some isolation of Belarus or Russia, but the self-isolation of the European Union. Because with each new package of sanctions, it is precisely the European Union and its citizens who lose the most," said Maksim Ryzhenkov.
According to him, the European Union has already gone too far with these sanctions.
"We all see how much the residents of the European Union themselves suffer from being cut off from markets, from the absence of our tourists in these states, from cheap and reliable resources that were previously supplied," said the minister, adding that it is even more difficult for EU countries today to establish communication with Asian countries.
The EU, noted Maksim Ryzhenkov, "remains self-restricted to a certain very small territory in which it finds itself today."
"It is clear to everyone who suffers most in this situation due to these sanctions," he said, calling the EU's policy absolutely ill-conceived.
